Disaster Relief Crisis Responder – OAR Foundation (Part Time Volunteer)
Job Description:
The Disaster Relief Crisis Responder at the OAR Foundation will be responsible for providing immediate response to natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and emergency situations, with a focus on supporting vulnerable communities and veterans affected by such events. This role involves coordinating relief efforts, providing on-the-ground support, and working with local partners to ensure effective and timely aid distribution. The Disaster Relief Crisis Responder will be part of the foundation’s team, ensuring that assistance is provided quickly and efficiently in times of crisis.
Key Responsibilities:

Respond to emergency situations by coordinating relief efforts, providing direct assistance, and supporting affected communities.

Work with local authorities, NGOs, and community partners to assess the needs of affected populations and organize effective disaster relief efforts.

Coordinate logistics for the delivery of supplies, equipment, and humanitarian aid to disaster-stricken areas.

Provide on-the-ground support for veterans and their families impacted by disasters, ensuring their specific needs are met.

Assist in the distribution of emergency supplies such as food, water, medical care, clothing, and shelter.

Support emergency response planning, including establishing shelters, providing medical support, and facilitating evacuation procedures if necessary.

Monitor and report on the impact of disaster relief activities, ensuring accurate tracking of resources and assistance provided.

Provide emotional and psychological support to individuals affected by disasters, especially veterans dealing with trauma or moral injury.

Collaborate with other teams within OAR Foundation, including volunteers, logistics, and development staff, to maximize the efficiency of relief operations.

Maintain a flexible schedule, ready to deploy in response to immediate crises, including extended hours and travel to affected areas.

Assist in post-disaster recovery efforts, ensuring long-term support for communities and veterans impacted by the crisis.
Requirements

Strong understanding of disaster relief operations, including logistics, supply chain management, and emergency response.
