Social Media Content Creator– OAR Foundation (Part Time Volunteer)
Job Description:
The Social Media Content Creator at the OAR Foundation will be responsible for crafting and executing engaging social media strategies that amplify the foundation’s mission, programs, and impact. This role involves developing creative and compelling content across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. The Social Media Content Creator will work closely with the communications team to ensure content is aligned with the foundation’s goals of supporting veterans, advocating for moral injury recovery, and raising awareness of OAR’s humanitarian initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a social media content strategy that promotes OAR’s mission, initiatives, and events.

Create engaging, visually appealing content for multiple social media platforms, including graphics, videos, posts, and stories.

Write compelling captions and headlines that resonate with OAR’s audience, including veterans, supporters, and donors.

Monitor and engage with followers, responding to comments and messages in a timely manner to foster a sense of community.

Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms and marketing materials.

Track and analyze social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and content, adjusting strategies as needed.

Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure content remains fresh and relevant.

Assist with promoting fundraising campaigns, events, and advocacy efforts through targeted social media outreach.

Develop content that shares the stories of veterans and the impact of OAR’s work in moral injury recovery and humanitarian efforts.

Maintain an organized content calendar, ensuring content is scheduled and posted consistently.

Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure cross-platform content is optimized for each platform’s audience.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (preferred).

Proven experience as a social media manager, content creator, or digital marketing specialist (at least 2 years).

Strong knowledge of social media platforms and their specific best practices (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a creative approach to content creation.

Experience with social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Canva) and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights).

Ability to create visual content (photos, videos, graphics) or collaborate with designers to do so.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Understanding of veteran issues, moral injury, and humanitarian efforts (preferred).

Passion for veteran advocacy, storytelling, and using social media to drive meaningful change.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
