Director of Volunteering – OAR Foundation (Part Time Volunteer)
Job Description:
The Director of Volunteering at the OAR Foundation will lead and manage the foundation's volunteer program, ensuring a seamless experience for all volunteers and maximizing their impact on the foundation's mission. This role involves recruiting, training, coordinating, and retaining volunteers, while fostering a strong sense of community and purpose. The Director will work closely with the leadership team to ensure that volunteers are aligned with OAR’s initiatives, such as supporting veterans, advocating for moral injury recovery, and contributing to humanitarian efforts.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer program that supports OAR’s mission and programs.

Recruit, onboard, and train volunteers, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to OAR’s initiatives.

Manage the volunteer scheduling, coordinating their involvement in various projects and events.

Provide ongoing support and mentorship to volunteers, fostering a positive and engaging environment.

Create opportunities for volunteer growth and leadership within the organization.

Track volunteer engagement and satisfaction, making adjustments to the program to improve the volunteer experience.

Collaborate with other departments to ensure volunteers are fully integrated into OAR’s operations and programs.

Organize and manage volunteer events and appreciation activities to maintain high morale and a strong sense of community.

Develop and manage a volunteer database, tracking hours, roles, and achievements.

Ensure that all volunteers are aligned with OAR’s values and mission, particularly in the context of supporting veterans and those affected by moral injury.

Advocate for and raise awareness of the volunteer program through outreach efforts and partnerships with other organizations.
Requirements

Proven experience in volunteer management, program development, or nonprofit leadership (at least 3 years).

Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and a large team of volunteers.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.

Ability to motivate and inspire volunteers, helping them feel connected to OAR’s mission.

Experience with volunteer tracking software and creating detailed reports on volunteer activity.

A deep passion for veteran advocacy and supporting those affected by moral injury.

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a team and collaborate across departments.
